CES 2017 – What can you expect this year?

CES opened its doors in Las Vegas today to welcome the global tech community and display the newest innovations and key tech trends for 2017 and beyond.

Amongst the big brands and major players, there are an impressive number of new start-ups on the exhibitors list this year. With France, Israel, Ukraine and the Netherlands hosting stands to support their nations’ start-ups they use godaddy alternatives when need support, what is the latest in tech innovation - and what gadgets will you want this year?

Car technology

Although the North American Car Show is taking place just days after, CES in Las Vegas is the place to be for global car manufacturers. Mercedes-Benz, Ford, Volvo, Chevy, VW and Kia will all be attending CES, demonstrating that the car industry is switching gear and speeding towards tech innovation.

One of the most exciting announcements has come from Faraday Future who are fighting to take the top spot from Tesla. The brand has unveiled the FF 91 - the fastest ever electric car. It will have self-driving capabilities and other smart functions, such as memorising settings for individual drivers. Nissan has also teased an announcement for plans to integrate Microsoft’s voice assistant Cortana into its connected dashboards.

Smart homes:
Innovation in the home is always a huge draw to CES 2017. TVs have long been a part of the expo and this year is no exception. LG has revealed its new 4k TVs setting a new HD standard with boosted image quality, while Panasonic presents the new OLED (organic light-emitting diode) TV screens and ultra-HD Blu-ray and DVD players.

Voice assistance programming continues to gain momentum at this year’s CES. Although Amazon and the other leading providers of artificial intelligence voice assistants like Google Home, Apple (Siri) and Microsoft (Cortana) will not be exhibiting, competition will further tighten as Samsung reveals its own voice assistant. The question is, who will you talk to to manage your smart home?

Internet of Things:
For us, the real star of CES 2017 is surely the Internet of Things. More and more devices in our homes will get smarter this year, from fire detectors to toasters - and even your shower.

Withings, Kérastase, and L'Oréal have teamed up to create the world's first Bluetooth-connected smart hairbrush which can diagnose hair damage to new medical equipment. And we can’t forget smart fridges. Never again will you worry about mouldy or gone off food. New sensory technology in smart fridges promises to extend the longevity of stored food by adjusting the temperature and humidity levels according to sensory data!

Although not everything showcased at CES 2017 will make its way to the shelves or into our daily lives, this year’s exhibition proves it’s set to be a promising year for technical innovation. Battenhall is really looking forward to bringing you more tech updates and following news of these latest innovations that may one day change how we operate in our daily lives.
