Instagram adds polls to its stories plus more!

This week Instagram rolled out a very exciting new feature. Users can now post a story with a voting sticker that works as a button and allows people to answer a two-option question. The user is then able to see what people have voted and which option is winning.

Adding a poll to a story is simple, it works just like any other Instagram sticker. Just drag and drop it onto your image in your story, and you’ll automatically be presented with the option to customise the question and choices. It is also important to know that any answer that is more complex than ‘Yes’ or ‘No’ has to be within the 22 character limit. The poll will last for the usual 24 hours. This is a great way for marketers to receive consumer feedback, engage with their audience or simply decide what to have for dinner.

Polls were not the only new feature that Instagram have rolled out. An eyedropper tool is now live. This allows you to take colours from your pictures to use on text and brushes, perfect for those brand guidelines marketers have to follow! Furthermore, an alignment tool is also live for iOS users exclusively (at the moment) that will help make sure text and stickers are properly centered on your images. Voila, a visually perfect and engaging post for your audience.
