430 million users and 50 billion messages daily: WhatsApp by the numbers
WhatsApp's growth continues at pace, as its CEO has announced some new numbers showcasing the size of the popular messaging app. In a talk at DLD in Munich this week, CEO Jan Koum confirmed that WhatsApp now has:
- 430 million active users
- 30 million new users in the last month
- 50 billion messages processed daily
- 50 members of staff (20 of which are customer support)
We have updated, below, our monthly stat-attack of the size of the main global social media sites (which we publish regularly in the Battenhall Monthly) to include this new data. We include WhatsApp in this even though it strictly isn't a social network - from our research we found it's being used a lot by businesses as a social messaging tool.
